Year 5 enjoyed their class trip to Jozani forest in January of Term 3. After spending half a term learning all about โPlants, Animals & Living Thingsโ we completed the unit of work with a trip to Jozani.
Our passionate guide โAbdulโ met us in the morning and took us on a forest tour, where we examined the local flora and fauna. We watched the Red Colobus Monkeys eat their breakfast swinging from the Guava trees and how they interacted with the other family of โBlue Monkeysโ. We then went across to the mangroves and did a walking tour though the Zanzibar Mangrove Forest.
We finished our trip over in the reptile sanctuary where we learnt about the endangered sea turtles and giant tortoises. We even got to โpetโ the resident Coral Rock Snake!
It is safe to say Y5 loved their trip and made lots of connections between their classroom learning and our incredible local surroundings/wildlife.
